Payroll Schedule

We currently offer four different payroll schedules to choose from, and each one has its own unique advantages, depending on the structure of your business.

  • Weekly – Pay delivered on the same day every week. (Example: every Friday)
  • Biweekly – Pay delivered every other week on the same day of the week. (Example: every other Thursday)
  • Semimonthly – Pay delivered on two set days every month. (Example: 5th and 20th)
  • Monthly – Pay delivered on or around the same day every month. (Example: 1st, 15th, or last day of month)

Payroll Pricing

Base price: $75 per month for 1-5 employees. This includes withholding federal taxes, remitting Social Security, Medicare, and Federal Unemployment liabilities to the appropriate agency, and filing annual 940 and quarterly 941 forms.

Additional charges include:

  • + $25 per month for every additional 5 employees
  • + $25 per month for a weekly payroll schedule
  • + $25 per month for Schedule B reporting (does not apply to most employers)
  • + $5 per month for Direct Deposit

WA State Quarterly Reporting

In addition to the federal payroll taxes, being a business owner in WA state comes with some additional state-specific responsibilities, which the professionals at Inkblot Business Service are uniquely qualified to handle.

The quarterly Washington State payroll taxes we provide are as follows:

  • Worker’s Comp (L&I)
  • State Unemployment Insurance (ESD)
  • Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML)
  • Long Term Care (WA Cares)

In-House Bookkeeper vs. Independent Contractor

BookkeepingIf you’re a business owner who’s made the decision to hire a bookkeeper to help manage your financial records, the first question to ask yourself is if you should hire an in-house employee to fill that position, or if you should partner with an independent contractor. 

In the paragraphs that follow, I'll give my two cents on both options. 

Generally speaking, one advantage to an in-house position is that it will probably cost less per hour. Keep in mind, however, that you’re hiring an actual employee, which means that you, as an employer, have certain legal obligations to that person. Additionally, although you might pay less in terms of the person’s wage, you will also be responsible to pay social security, medicare, workman’s comp, and state/federal unemployment taxes for the hours they work.
